Great Basin Adventure Center Adventure and fun are yours inside this area specially designed for children. Features include Wilbur's Ranch, full of animals who love to be petted. Be a cowboy -- or girl and ride the ponies, or the Great Flume Ride, explore the Discovery Room, where we invite our little guests to touch everything, climb on dinosaurs, pan for gold and lots more. The Arboretum and Botanical
The Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a living museum. Located in a transitional zone between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Great Basin Desert, it is challenged by a rugged climate. The garden has an average annual precipitation of 7 inches and a short growing season of less than 100 days.
At an elevation of 4,600 feet, the gardens' daily temperature varies 50 degrees or more. Very few plants can survive in these conditions without human assistance. The garden's primary purpose is to research and demonstrate the botanical possibilities of the high desert environment. The arboretum has 12 acres covered with groves of trees, wetland habitats, outdoor courtyards, and secluded gardens.
Museum A cascading waterfall and indoor garden invite you into the museum and adjoining exhibit halls. The museum presents the incredible collections of Wilbur D. May's numerous world travels and life as a Nevada rancher. The Museum is open year-round and offers many special exhibits and programs throughout the year. The Museum is supported by the gift shop, where you'll find an extensive selection of unique items, both educational and beautiful. Plus, your purchase will enable the museum to bring educational and fun exhibits for families of the Truckee Meadows
Located is Sparks only 5 minutes from downtown Reno, Wild Island is an all day adventure park filled with fun activities for the entire family. Check their site for current rates and park times.
Take a ride on the Wild Cat Rollercoaster. Try your driving skills as you zoom around the Indy Race Track or Sprint Car Track. Knock down some pins at the Coconut Bowling Alley or take a climb through the High Ballocity play structure. If that isn’t enough to wear them (and you out), spend the day at the Waterpark slipping and sliding, splashing and tubing down acres of water fun.
